Microsoft took another step forward recommending Windows 7 users to migrate to the latest version of the Windows 10 operating system. Those who are still running their system on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, the software giant to end support for Microsoft Edge browser soon.
As both the operating systems are out of support, Microsoft Edge to continue support on those plateforms until July 15, 2021.
Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 early this year and now the Redmond team has decided to end the support of Microsoft Edge on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 on July 15, 2021. This will apply to Microsoft Edge version 77 and higher for desktop.
According to the latest Microsoft support document:
We will continue to support Microsoft Edge on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 until July 15, 2021. These operating systems are out of support and Microsoft recommends you move to a supported operating system such as Windows 10.
Microsoft Edge will still be supported on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 on desktop, Sierra 10.12 and later on MacOS, iOS 11.0 or later on iPad and iPhone, Android KitKat 4.4 or later on Android phones and tablets. Point to also note that, Microsoft Edge is not supported on Chromebooks.
