Microsoft Office version 2203 gets a bunch of new features and improvements

What's new in Microsoft Office version 2203 build 15028.20022

Modern comments now available to the consumer audience

Modern comments in PowerPoint offer many enhancements that improve the collaboration process on your presentation, including comments anchored to specific text, comments visible in the margin and in the comments pane, the ability to resolve threads, enhanced @mentions functionality, and more. Previously limited to commercial licenses of Office, modern comments are now available to the PowerPoint consumer audience as well!

Improved coauthoring error recovery experience

Collaborating with others while working in Word is a vital productivity tool for many users, and disruptions can be extremely frustrating. We’ve now developed an improved recovery experience to quickly restore users back to a connected state after experiencing coauthoring errors. This automatic refresh synchronizes all changes among different authors, so you’re seeing the most up-to-date document possible. Conflicts between different authors and changes not saved to the server will show as tracked changes.

Faster filtering when cells contain unique or duplicate rules

When your workbook contains many unique or duplicate conditional formatting rules, it can often slow down the app’s performance. No longer! By optimizing the underlying comparison algorithm, we’ve enhanced the performance and sped up the filtering process.

Other improvements and fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the default sensitivity label was not getting properly applied when creating a new document in PowerPoint.
  • Fixed an issue where the text fields in the custom filter dialog would autocomplete when you start typing a value.
  • Fixed an issue where, when typing double-byte characters and there are two suggestions, one would be automatically inserted.
  • Fixed an issue where the button form control would lose its position after inserting or deleting rows or columns.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to occasionally close unexpectedly when the user changed the sensitivity label for a document.
  • Fixed an issue where the app would stop responding due to a missing writer thread.
  • Fixed an issue where a scroll-down button was missing in the “From” account picker dropdown menu.
  • Fixed an issue where the default icon was displayed for attached messages when a custom icon was expected.
  • Fixed an issue that caused users to experience performance issues when switching folders due to a corrupt view setting.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the membership list to not display properly for contact cards.
  • Fixed an issue so that users should no longer experience problems when printing Progress Lines in the Gantt chart.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Display Name and Trendline Name for a chart data series to be unable to be edited in the Chart Settings pane.
