What's new and improved in Windows 11 KB5025305 (OS Build 22621.1635) Preview Update?

Windows 11 KB5025305 (OS Build 22621.1635) Preview Update brings a range of quality improvements to the servicing stack, an essential component responsible for installing updates on Windows devices. These updates, known as Servicing stack updates (SSU), are critical to ensuring that devices have a robust and reliable servicing stack for a seamless installation of Microsoft updates.

With this latest update, users can expect to experience several new changes and improvements as part of the preview. Let's take a closer look at what this update has to offer:

One of the new features included in this update is the ability to configure application group rules in firewall settings. This feature provides users with more control over their network and allows them to manage their applications more effectively.

Furthermore, this update also supports the government's daylight saving time change order from 2022 in the Islamic Republic of Iran. This feature ensures that users in Iran have access to accurate time settings and are not affected by any time discrepancies.

In addition, this update addresses several issues affecting the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) process. Specifically, it resolves the 0xc0000005 (STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION) error, which caused the machine to restart. This update also fixes an issue with the Tab Window Manager in Microsoft Edge IE mode, which sometimes stopped responding.

The update also addresses an issue affecting protected content. Specifically, when users minimized a window containing protected content, the content would display when it should not have. This issue occurred when using Taskbar Thumbnail Live Preview.

For mobile device management (MDM) customers, this update resolves an issue that prevented users from printing. The issue caused an exception, preventing the device from completing the printing process.

Additionally, this update changes the app icons for certain mobile providers, providing users with a fresh new look and feel for their applications.

This update also addresses an issue affecting signed Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) policies. The policies were not applied to the Secure Kernel when Secure Boot was enabled, which could cause security vulnerabilities.

Another issue this update addresses is the display of Task View in the wrong area. Specifically, when closing a full-screen game by pressing Win + Tab, Task View would display in the incorrect location.

For users using a PIN to sign in to Windows Hello for Business, this update resolves an issue where signing in to Remote Desktop Services would fail with an error message stating that "The request is not supported".

This update also addresses an issue affecting Administrator Account Lockout policies. Specifically, GPResult and Resultant Set of Policy did not report them, which caused confusion for users.

For users utilizing the Unified Write Filter (UWF), this update resolves an issue that caused the device to stop responding when turning off UWF using a call to Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).

Additionally, this update addresses an issue affecting the Resilient File System (ReFS). Specifically, a stop error would occur that prevented the OS from starting up correctly.

For users running MySQL commands on Windows Xenon containers, this update resolves an issue that caused the commands to fail.

Finally, this update addresses an issue affecting apps that use DirectX on older Intel graphics drivers. Specifically, users would receive an error from apphelp.dll, preventing the application from running.
