As made the announcement in July, Microsoft has now started rolling out the Windows 10 November 2019 Update (version 1909) globally. The update brings some new features and fixes, to make it the most secure version of Windows till now.


Though the update comes as an optional update, but you should consider to install this update to get the new capabilities to your existing version of Windows 10.

Back in October, Microsoft announced that the Windows 10 November 2019 Update (version 1909) from the 19H2 branch is ready for public release and now as per the schedule they made it live globally to all users via the Windows Update.


The new update introduces some latest features, calling it the 'most secure version of Windows' so far. As mentioned by Microsoft, the latest features include capabilities for:

  1. Quickly creating an event directly from the Calendar flyout on the Taskbar.
  2. Better managing notifications, including a new button at the top of the Action Center and the ability to sort notifications by most recently shown.
  3. Integrating OneDrive content online with traditional indexed results in the File Explorer search box.
  4. The navigation pane on the Start menu now expands when you hover over it with your mouse to better inform where clicking goes.
  5. Using your voice to activate third-party digital assistants from the Lock screen.


Microsoft also said that the Windows 10 November 2019 Update can now be installed from Windows Update settings page. It will be displayed as Feature update to Windows 10, version 1909 under the optional updates. Once the download completes, you might need to restart your device for the changes to take effect.
