It's almost a month when Microsoft officially revealed the upcoming major release of their operating system, Windows 11. The new update to bring an updated UI, and improvements to performance, productivity, and security features. Windows 10 users meeting the minimum hardware requirements will receive a free upgrade to Windows 11.

 

Windows 11 is now available as a preview release to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel with a new Microsoft Store as a one-stop destination to browse and install apps, and games. Microsoft Edge browser, which is the default browser on Windows 11, also started appearing on Microsoft Store.

Microsoft is rolling out a new Microsoft Edge build to the Edge Insiders in the Canary Channel. The latest build introduces Efficiency Mode to Microsoft Edge that has been designed to extend the battery life of your system by reducing resource usage.

Microsoft released a new update to the Edge Insiders in the Dev Channel. This is the third minor update to the Edge v92, after the major version released to Dev Channel a week ago. Though there are no major improvements, the latest build 92.0.884.2 adds two new features to Microsoft Edge.

 

Microsoft also informed that the Microsoft Edge build for Dev Channel has been delayed until later this week or skipped until next week due to some issues while getting the build.

The built-in coupon and price comparison tool in Microsoft Edge (Chromium) adds a new shopping experience within the browser window by displaying coupon codes when you visit any shopping site. The feature is still hidden under a flag as an experimental feature to Edge Insiders and hence you won't find it in the stable release.

During the first announcement of the Chromium-powered Microsoft Edge browser, Microsoft made it clear that the company is going to make the new browser available to all popular platforms. During the Microsoft Ignite //2020 event, Microsoft announced that the Edge Insiders will get the first preview build of the Linux variant in October 2020.

 

As of now, the Linux variant of the Microsoft Edge browser was available to Edge Insiders in the Dev Channel. Over a period of six months, it now moved one step closer to the stable release by promoting it to the Beta Channel.

HTTPS is a browser protocol that securely establishes a connection with the hosting server. This is being done by using SSL encrypted tunnels. These days, many websites use the HTTPS protocol to create a secure channel between the client and the server.

Microsoft has quietly released the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge Canary build on the popular Android platform. The latest Edge Can build on Android has version number 91.0.858.0. It comes with a fresh UI, other changes, and performance improvements.

The "Password Monitor" feature was first introduced in Microsoft Edge Canary build at the end of June 2020. When you enable this feature, the Microsoft Edge browser will check all your saved browser passwords against a known repository of already exposed credentials. It will alert you if your online credentials have been detected on the dark web.

 

When your credentials are checked against the database of known leaked credentials, powerful encryption helps prevent your information from being revealed to anyone. Information about which password has been compromised is only available to you.

Microsoft is working on a new download manager for the Chromium Edge that will make your downloading experience even simpler by showing a menu in the toolbar when you start downloading files. The new experience will also allow you to manage your downloads directly from the Microsoft Edge toolbar.

 

The new download experience is now rolling out to the Edge Insiders in the Canary channel and will be available to the stable release channel later this year.
