Yes, you read the title right. Just after the announcement of Windows 8 RTM, Microsoft announced the release date of Visual Studio 2012. The final product will be available to MSDN subscribers and general public on 15th August 2012.

C# 5.0 comes with Visual Studio 2012 and .NET Framework 4.5. Currently it is in RC (Release Candidate) mode and will get the final RTM version soon. In our last CSharp blog post “Evolution of C# (1.0 – 5.0)”, we learned about the evolution of C# and also we also came to know about the main features introduced in each C# version.

Today in this post, we will learn about one new attribute that has been introduced in C# 5.0 named “CallerMemberName” for developers. Yes, it is for developers to trace the information about the caller code. Let’s begin discussing about it.

Microsoft is aware of detailed information that has been published describing a new method to exploit hash tables. Attacks targeting this type of vulnerability are generically known as hash collision attacks. Attacks such as these are not specific to Microsoft technologies and affect other web service software providers. This vulnerability affects all versions of Microsoft .NET Framework and could allow for an unauthenticated denial of service attack on servers that serve ASP.NET pages.

Microsoft released Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview to the developer community. First they released it for the MSDN subscriber that means, it was available only for MSDN subscribers till the date it was announced. Now it is available for general public. Visual Studio Async CTP Service Pack 1 has been released which extends Visual Studio 2010 which provides a new streamlined syntax for Asynchronous development. This version of Async CTP is compatible with Visual Studio 2010 SP1.

Microsoft Virtual Techdays is the India’s Premier online Technical Event. This was the 10th edition of the series, started on 22nd November 2010 and continued for 3 days. On 23rd November 2010, I delivered my session on “Building Visual Studio LightSwitch Application” and the session video is online now.

It was a nice time to present myself to the audience to deliver my presentation on Visual Studio LightSwitch for Silverlight application development in Pune Developer Conference (DevCon) event organized by Pune User Group. Today I delivered the 1 hour session on “Building Visual Studio LightSwitch Application” in Microsoft Virtual Techdays from 1:45PM – 2:45PM (Indian Standard Time). It was my first public session and due to this, I was little nervous when I started my presentation. But when I jumped into the demo, I got some confidence on that.
