As it is the second Tuesday of the month, it's time for patching all supported versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems. Being the last patch of the year, Microsoft now started rolling out the December 2021 Patch Tuesday update (KB5008212) for Windows 10 versions 2004, 20H2, 21H1, and 21H2.

It's Patch Tuesday! Microsoft released a new cumulative update (KB5005033) for all supported Windows 10 versions as a mandatory update. The latest update brings a small list of fixes to resolve the Print Spooler PrintNightmare vulnerability.

Microsoft released a new cumulative update (KB5004296) for Windows 10 version 21H1, Windows 10 version 20H2, and Windows 10 version 2004. If you are using Windows 10 version 2004 or newer, Microsoft released another update (KB5004237) this month to address several issues affecting Windows 10 systems. The last update (KB5004945) was released on July 6th to address a Windows Zero-day vulnerability called "PrintNightmare".

 

All users running Windows 10 version 2004 (May 2020 Update), Windows 10 version 20H2, and Windows 10 version 21H1 must update their systems with this KB5004237 update by running Windows Update from the Settings app.

This vulnerability is called as "PrintNightmare" and is being exploited by attackers to achieve local privileges and remote code execution through the Windows Print Spooler service.

Microsoft acknowledged a new bug that has been introduced for some users on Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004) that falsely reporting the internet connection status in the Windows Taskbar icon (Network Connectivity Status Indicator, NCSI).

Microsoft claims in a blog announcement that if you are on Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004), the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser consumes 27% less memory by leveraging the Windows segment heap memory.
