If you are using Skype, Microsoft is now bringing in animated backgrounds for your video calls. The company recently previewed it in the latest Skype Insiders Preview Build 8.74.76.129. Not only that, with the latest preview build, Microsoft also added few more new features to it.

 

Some of the new features introduced in Skype 8.74 include customized call reactions, a split window on Android, Files sharing from chat. For more details on the new features, continue reading further.

Last month Microsoft announced that they are ending the support of Skype version 7, which will get discontinued from 1st September 2018. Those who are still using the classic Skype app will be transitioned to the new Skype app.

 

But the customers feedback was not so good with Skype 8 and thus the company decided to extend the support for some more time.

Recently Microsoft announced that they are ending the support of classic Skype version 7 and after 1st September 2018 everyone needs to upgrade to Skype 8 to continue its services.

 

Along with the announcement, Microsoft listed out some upcoming features that will be available next in Skype version 8. It includes call recording, read receipts, private conversation etc.

Microsoft has started rolling out an updated version of Skype (version 8) for the desktop that replaces the classic Skype (version 7). They have also announced that the classic version of Skype will stop working after 1st September 2018 and only the Skype 8 will work.

 

So, if you are using Skype and in the old version, upgrade to the latest version of Skype for the desktop to avoid any inconvenience once it reaches the end of support.

Microsoft today announced the new insiders program for Skype. This will allow enthusiastic community members to test it and provide feedback to shape and enhance the Skype experience. This will be currently available for Windows, iOS, Mac and Android platform.

 

If you are such a community user, you can sign-up for it. You can also request for other platforms like Xbox and Microsoft will get back to you soon.

Microsoft, in their Skype FAQ page updated that, the Skype app will continue to work on Windows Phone 8.x and Windows RT devices until early 2017. This also includes some Android, Mac and iOS devices running older version of the OS.

 

It’s because of their move towards transitioning Skype experience on cloud. Skype for other systems will not have any impact.

These days Skype is a common platform for audio/video calling over internet. Many people uses it to connect with their family and beloved one, some other also uses it for business purpose to connect with their client.

 

Recently I noticed frequent crash in Skype and when tried to reopen, it was unable to login but was showing a message that I am already signed in to system. This post covers the solution to that.
