Microsoft claims in a blog announcement that if you are on Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004), the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser consumes 27% less memory by leveraging the Windows segment heap memory.

 

With this in place, the Win32 applications will now manage memory more efficiently and deliver the best possible browsing experience.

Approximately 5 years ago Microsoft started rolling out test builds to the Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring, and those test builds were then rolled out to Slow Ring and Release Preview Ring. Over the years, Microsoft adjusted how they have released the Windows 10 Preview builds by using the ring model.

 

Now they are transitioning and converting the current Windows Insiders ring model, based on the frequency of builds, to a new channel model. In addition to this change, Insiders will also find similar offering names and expectations across Windows and Office programs and soon Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Teams.

Last month Microsoft announced two new features (a file detail pane and a more comprehensive activity feed) to the OneDrive web interface for the personal account holders. Now they have announced two new collaboration features for the business account holders that will add an extra layer of security while sharing files.

Last year, Microsoft added a new feature to Windows 10 that encourages users to configure the system services 'powered by a Microsoft account' with a full-screen notification prompt when the system boots for the first time after an upgrade or fresh installation.

 

In general, this prompt should come only when the system boots after OS installation, but recently some customers (including me) have reported that they are getting this screen without updating the system.

Active hours let Windows know when you are typically at your PC. This info is used to let Windows 10 schedule updates and restarts when you are not using the PC. The main idea behind the feature is to make the operating system updates less annoying by preventing automatic restarts.

 

Though this feature was released with Windows 10 Anniversary Update, now Microsoft started recommending the Active Hours time on the Windows Update page, based on your actual time using the system.

But if you can't wait, you can upgrade with tools like Update Assistant and Media Creation Tool. But before upgrading, be warned that the update still has some bugs that may bring your device down.

 

As the update still has these known bugs, Microsoft now made a small change to the Windows Update page and starts notifying you if your device is not yet ready for the installation to happen on that device.
