Microsoft is experimenting with a new feature called "Startup Boost" that will start a set of Microsoft Edge processes in the background to have a faster experience to launch the chromium-powered Edge browser on Windows 10 from desktop, taskbar icon, and links within other apps.

 

Though the Redmond giant didn't give any commitment by when the feature will arrive in the stable build, you can experiment with the feature right now if you are running Edge Insiders build.

Microsoft released the Windows 10 October 2020 Update (version 20H2, build 19042) on October 20th to selected users who manually seek for updates. Microsoft is also offering users to download the ISOs of the Windows 10 October 2020 Update for clean installations.

Microsoft announced that the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser is now available for Linux users. The company said that they will provide weekly updates in sync with the Dev Channel on other platforms, and as this is still in the early preview state, you may experience bugs or unexpected behaviors.

 

This version of Microsoft Edge supports Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and openSUSE distributions of the Linux operating system. Edge Insiders in the Dev channel for Linux can download it and start providing feedback to Microsoft.

Microsoft announced the rolling out of the much-awaited Windows 10 October 2020 Update, also known as version 20H2. Microsoft says that the update is currently rolling out to seekers who opt to install it by manually checking for new updates from the Windows Update settings page.

Microsoft is working on a new feature for Microsoft Teams that will intelligently remove the unwanted background noise in real-time. The feature is said to be using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm to filter out all unwanted noises during the Microsoft Teams call.

 

Microsoft said that it's an improvement to the existing noise suppression feature and users will now have more control over how much noise suppression they want.

Private Endpoints enables you to consume your app through a specific IP address located in your Azure Virtual Network (VNet), eliminating exposure to the public internet. Microsoft now made the announcement of Azure App Service support for Private Endpoints generally available.

The old Control Panel applets are becoming obsolete these days while Microsoft moving those to the modern Windows 10 Settings app. Microsoft released a new Windows 10 build to the insiders where they are testing a new feature that will allow you to change the Screen Refresh Rate directly from the Display settings page.

Microsoft added a new security feature to the Chromium-powered Microsoft Edge browser that will protect you from malicious websites while surfing the net. Using the Microsoft Defender SmartScreen service, Microsoft implemented this feature to Edge 87.

Microsoft is currently working on a new privacy feature for the Chromium powered Microsoft Edge browser, that will allow you to show or hide the "Reveal Password" button next to the password fields. When you have a privacy concern, you should hide the button by simply turning OFF a settings.

AV1 is a royalty-free video coding format, which has been designed for video streaming over the internet. It was developed by Alliance for Open Media in 2018 and is going to replace the H.264 video format eventually, due to better compression rate and improved video image quality.

Last week, Microsoft released Windows 10 Preview Build 20226 to the Windows Insiders in the Dev channel, which came with a new storage health monitoring system to detect hardware abnormalities in NVMe SSDs and other new improvements.
